County Sheriff's Office
The office of the Sheriff
is mandated by Illinois Constitution. The Governor commissions Sheriffs
after the citizens of the County elect them. The Sheriff has several duties,
which are established by Illinois State Law. Duties of the Sheriff include:
Custody of the Courthouse and Jail; Responsibility for service of all warrants,
process, orders and judgments of the Court; Conservator of the peace and
supervisor of safety; Warden of the County Jail. The Sheriff also possesses
the authority to call to his or her aid, when necessary, any person or power
of the County to fulfill these duties.
Tazewell County is a large County by Illinois standards, having a total
of 653 Square Miles and a population of about 125,000. The Tazewell County
Sheriff's Office consists of several divisions. These include: Patrol, Investigations,
Crime Prevention, Canine, Court Security, Civil Process and Corrections.
The County seat is in the City of Pekin. It is our goal to adhere to the

service.
