Houston County Sheriff
Houston County was created by an act of the General Assembly on May 15, 1821. Since that time the Sheriff’s Office has proudly served and protected the citizens of Houston County. Houston County has grown to a population of 139,900 and we are responsible for 382 square miles. We are the home of Robins Air Force Base, the largest employer in the state of Georgia. The Sheriff’s Office has grown with the population. We are staffed with 350 deputies in 7 divisions. The Traffic Division was formed in 1987. It was allocated 4 members and their initial responsibility was the enforcement of the traffic laws. In 1990 the manpower was increased to 8 deputies. In 1993 we were tasked with investigating all serious injury / fatality collisions occurring in the county. In 2001 we were given the additional assignment of investigating all hit and run collisions occurring in the county. Deputies currently assigned to the Traffic Division include
