2009 Spring Seminar

Our 2009 Spring Seminar will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at the NYS Homeland Security Training Center (formerly Oneida County Airport) located at 5900 Airport Road in Oriskany, New York 13424 (near Utica). The program, “Critical Curve Speed” (CCS), will be presented by NYSTARS’ John McManus, and includes morning class instruction followed by lunch and an afternoon of field tests of CCS theory and measurement.

Our Spring Seminar will offer the following (see schedule on reverse):

Morning classroom lectures:

  • derivation of the Critical Curve Speed formula,
  • proper identification of yaw marks,
  • proper measurement techniques, and
  • application of the formula.

Afternoon in-field training portion of the seminar will include:

  • “laying down” of yaw marks,
  • traditional measuring of yaw marks,
  • use of Total Station to measure and map yaw marks, and
  • comparison between manual measurements and digital map measurements.

THE INSTITUTE OF POLICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (IPTM) IN CONJUCTION WITH THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE, WILL HOST IPTM'S CRASH INVESTIGATION SERIES AND OTHER SPECIALITY COURSES AT THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE ACADEMY IN ALBANY, NEW YORK, BEGINNING MARCH 30, 2009.

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING THEIR OWN LODGING ARRANGEMENTS AND MUST MENTION THESE CLASSES, INCLUDING THE SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT RATE.

BOTH HOTELS ARE OFFERING A LODGING RATE OF $54.95/NIGHT FOR SINGLE OR DOUBLE OCCUPANCY, ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. TAX EXEMPT STATUS IS ACCEPTED, WHEN APPLICABLE. OTHER LODGING OPTIONS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.

MEALS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE ACADEMY AT NOMINAL RATES OF BREAKFAST - $2.39, LUNCH - $4.77, AND DINNER - $7.74, OR LESS THAN $65 PER WEEK THROUGH MR. JAMES TUBECK OF EUREST DINING SERVICES AT 518 457 7176.

A NEW YORK STATE STANDARD VOUCER WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR MEALS AND LODGING, WHEN APPLICABLE.
