Airbag Initiator and Inflator Testing
One innovative
instrument offers the automotive industry the flexibility required
for automotive airbag initiator and inflator testing. This instrument
provides a compelling variety of currents and waveforms –
all with the time-saving characteristics of adjustability, simple
operation and programmability.
High functionality, safety and a rapid return-of-investment
are the hallmarks of this new electrical fireset for automotive
initiators and inflators. With the rapid proliferation of airbags
in automobiles and the need to drive testing costs down, the Model
5054 from Berkeley Nucleonics (San Rafael, CA) provides multi-channel
and automation capability.
Model 5054
– Firing Box for automotive SQUIBS, Initiators and Inflators
The Model 5054 has
four firing channels that provide all-fire, no-fire, resistance
measurement, AC or DC current, capacitor discharge, Bruceton,
Neyer, high current and thermal time constant tasks. Analog signals
depicting current, voltage and energy are provided for each channel.
All parameters for this high current pulse generator are fully
programmable via RS232, GPIB and USB. Repetitive tasks can be
automated, and the several channels can be used to do consecutive,
sequential tasks that the Bruceton and Neyer criteria require.
Numerous safety interlocks and protection against transients and
power outages are standard. “With the model 5054, we now
offer the automotive test industry tremendous versatility that
is cost effective. The new technology used in this instrument
is unparalleled” comments company President David Brown.
