INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the
November 2002 edition of the Accident Reconstruction Newsletter.
The Holidays are fast approaching as is the year 2003. It seems
like just yesterday the ARC Network was getting started. We are
now in our fifth year, but still considered the early years for
an organization. Over the past five years the ARC Network has continued
to grow and expand. We started with one member back in March of
1999 and now have well over 300 members world wide. Our police department
membership is growing as well, over 30% of the US State Patrol Departments
are now participating in the ARC Network. September was a breakthrough
month where we recorded 650,000 hits to the web site. Last month
we broke that record and recorded just over 730,000 hits to the
site and we are on target to beat that in November!
As the year
2002 winds down we are taking time to comb through the ARC Network
and check to make sure all the links and sections are up-to-date
and working. We are also streamlining some of the areas of the ARC
Network. One of the most popular areas of the ARC Network is getting
a complete overhaul - the Discussion Forum. The Discussion Forum
is one of our most visited areas of the ARC Network and one that
defines what the ARC Network is all about, networking the accident
reconstruction and traffic investigation community. The new discussion
forum expands on the discussion board theory and adds a new dimension
in communicating via the Internet. The basis is still the same -
post questions and reply to posts. However, we have now added the
availability of private messaging, instant messaging and full control
over the look and feel of your posts. You can also set up a profile
so others know who you are and what your specialties are (completely
optional). We have also added a jobs board to this new application.
Another area
we are working on is the vehicle crush stiffness database. We are
in the process of adding more data as well as working on a new layout
design to present the data. Over the next year we hope to really
expand this section with more details on each crash test and add
more rear and even some side impact crush data.
The ARC Network
is able to operate based on membership dues and advertisers. Please
help support The ARC Network by becoming a member. As a member
you have full access to the Member's Only section that hosts a vehicle
specs database, crush stiffness database, crash test clips, technical
papers and more. As a member you will also be placed in the Expert
Directory. If you haven't joined the ARC yet, please visit our membership
section.
