The ARC Network is pleased to announce a new print publication dedicated
to crash research - COLLISION: The International
Compendium for Crash Research.
“COLLISION: The International Compendium for
Crash Research”
will be unveiled in June 2006 at the ARC-CSI Crash Conference.
The magazine will be full-color and will be issued twice a year.
Collision
Publishing is pleased to offer a new resource dedicated to
providing timely and current research and information on crash research.
This is the first publication of its kind, featuring conference proceedings,
articles of interest, peer-reviewed papers, crash test data, industry
news and research. Included with every issue is a bonus CD containing
all papers in electronic PDF format and supporting data. The bonus CDs
will include information captured at the annual CDR User's Conference
and the ARC-CSI Crash Conference.
This new publication, is dedicated to keeping its subscribers
current in crash research. The premier issue will be mailed out in June
2006.
ARC Network Platinum and Police
Department members and NAPARS members
will receive a complimentary subscription (learn
more)!
NAPARS Board of Directors voted unanimously
to approve an exclusive agreement with Collision Publishing to make NAPARS
the Premier Industry Partner to the new publication. As a result
NAPARS was able to obtain a substantially-discounted subscription rate
to the new magazine which will not be offered to any other group or organization.
The board also voted unanimously to end our subscription arrangement with
the “Accident Reconstruction Journal” effective immediately.
NAPARS annual dues will increase to $115.00
effective immediately for all new members, and effective January 1, 2007
for members in good standing at this time. While we have absorbed the
bulk of the cost of the mid-2006 transition to the new publication in
the organizational budget, it will be necessary to impose a $25.00 dues
surcharge on current members.
Please
visit the NAPARS web site for complete details.

Crash Testing
The crash tests planned for the 2006 ARC-CSI Conference
will largely mirror the conference presentations including curb
strikes, crashes with multiple impacts - secondary
contacts to be included in a momentum analysis - and significant
closing speed crashes with an eye on potentially causing
the "2 in three out" crash which makes finding departure
angles all the more challenging. On top of that, it looks like we
have not one but two crashes planned with full scale Class
A motorhomes!! (So, what DOES happen to occupants on the
bed or in the lavatory in a motorhome crash???) What about motorcycle
crashes?? It's a conference topic and we're working on full
scale motorcycle crashes as well!
As usual, all the crashes will be instrumented with
lab grade accelerometers and, where appropriate roll rate and yaw
rate sensors for new CDR related data. On that note, we have confirmed
setting up a previously unannounced crash but one that ties into another
of the conference presentations and that'd be an "attempted"
yaw induced SUV rollover! The ever-ambitious day
of testing starts Monday morning June 5th at 8AM and is surely not
to be missed. As usual, complete compilation of all that data will
be distributed at the close of the conference on the 8th.

The ARC Network is proud to bring you two of the year's
top conferences, the ARC-CSI Crash Conference and the CDR User's Group
Conference. These two conferences attract an international attendee
list and provide a lasting learning experience for all involved.
The first ARC-CSI Conference began in 2002 at the Bremerton
Race Track in Washington State and attracted just under 60 attendees.
Since then we have moved the conference to Las Vegas, NV and increased
annual attendance to over 170 people.
The ARC-CSI Conference is the annual premier crash conference.
At the conference you will witness live crash testing first hand, attend
presentations by recognized leaders in their field, leave the conference
with crash data in hand including the photos and video of the testing,
copies of the presentations for later review and related documents and
reference material.
The ARC Network also hosts the newest conference and training
opportunity - the CDR User's Conference. The first conference was held
in Dallas, Texas in February 2006. The conference sold out in record
time. We are planning to make this an annual conference, taking place
around late January/early February.
This conference is a comprehensive conference to publish
CDR System related information in the form of papers, data compendium
and the like. It covers legal issues, legislation, user applications,
and future developments.
If you missed a previous ARC Network conference, you may order a CD
copy directly online from our secure web site.
The conference CDs include all the data collected at the conference
including video, digital pictures, CDR data, diagrams, presentations,
IST files and more.
