March 2004
Welcome
to the March 2004 issue of the Accident Reconstruction Newsletter.
The past
month we have been gearing up for the 2 conferences we will be hosting
in June, 2004. We have just confirmed that the Society
of Accident Reconstructionists (SOAR) will be holding their general
meeting at the ARC-CSI Crash Conference this year. The ARC Network and
Collision Safety Institute has made the commitment to offer all SOAR members
a $50 discount of registration to the ARC-CSI conference.
ARC-CSI
Crash Conference 2004
June 21-24, 2004
Las Vegas, NV
Overview: The focus of this year's conference will be
on the relationship between damage and energy to include crush measuring
techniques and barrier equivalencies and delta-V. The full scale crash
tests planned will benefit those in attendance by offering them an opportunity
to better recognize the differences as well as comparative similarities
between these quantities as well as offer opportunities to explore crush
measurement techniques and technologies. Each attendee will receive a
CDROM with all the information collected from the conference (digital
pictures, video, collected data, and more) as well as from the Evaluating
Crashes for Injury Potential to be held June 19-20, 2004. Crash
testing for the conference will be conducted by Tom Szabo
and Jud Welcher of Biomechanical Research and
Testing (BRT), proven leaders in the field of human subject crash
testing together with Rusty Haight of the Collision Safety Institute.
Together, BRT and CSI have conducted more than 200 crash tests over the
years and have set the standard in conference crash test conduct together
with data collection and distribution.

Evaluating
Crashes for Injury Potential
June 19-20, 2004
Las Vegas, NV
Overview: This
unique conference gives you the opportunity to witness live low-speed
human crash tests and attend presentations from industry experts. This
conference allows you to obtain further education that relates directly
to your practice and witness real life car crash scenarios. Each attendee
will receive a CDROM with all the information collected from the conference
(digital pictures, video, collected data, and more) as well as from the
ARC-CSI Crash Conference to be held June 21-24. Crash testing for the
conference will be conducted by Tom Szabo and Jud
Welcher of Biomechanical Research and Testing
(BRT), proven leaders in the field of human subject crash testing together
with Rusty Haight of the Collision Safety Institute.
Together, BRT and CSI have conducted more than 200 crash tests over the
years and have set the standard in conference crash test conduct together
with data collection and distribution.
Live
human subject crash testing: Fully instrumented head, thorax,
lumber acceleration data for human subjects in a series of "low speed'
crashes of different configurations with late model cars
Evaluating crashes for injury potential and occupant kinematics:
Presentations on connecting the potential for injury with crash severity
from medical, biomechanical and legal experts
Evaluating restraint use: Seat belts and injury patterns
Medical literature review: Exposure to the latest in
the literature on injury potential in "low speed" crashes from
leaders in the field

Remember
if you sign up for both conferences, you can take $200
off registration (that is in addition to the $50 discount
given to ARC Network members, CSI Graduates and S.O.A.R.
members). |
In other news,
the ARC Network has outgrown the current Internet server used for this
web site. Although we have not reached capacity yet, we are getting close.
So in order to "nip it in the bud", we will be migrating to
a newer, faster server for the web site. We do not expect any down time
as a result of this migration. This migration will most likely occur next
month.
The ARC Network would
like to thank everyone for continuing to make the ARC Network the number
one web site for accident reconstruction and traffic investigation.
