Got Hit Web Site Overview
In conjunction
with the ARC Network we recently launched a new web site for auto accident
victims. The new web site has been named "I Got Hit: The Auto
Accident Resource Network" and is located on the Internet at
www.iGotHit.com.
We put
this web site together for two reasons:
- To
direct auto accident victims to an appropriate web site where they can
retrieve information specifically for auto accidents. This
information covers everything from the scene of the accident, to necessary
steps after the accident, to locating a lawyer or doctor.
We have tied this into the ARC Network because the ARC Network has been
receiving many email and phone calls from accident victims needing help.
Because the ARC Network deals specifically with accident reconstruction,
there was no easy way to refer these people to a resource. As you know,
the accident victim should first locate an attorney, not a Reconstructionist.
With the I Got Hit web site active, we can now refer these emails and
phone calls to the other web site and let them research and locate the
appropriate resources to help them recover from the auto accident.
- To help
provide awareness for auto accident victims. As we were creating
this web site, we decided to build it in a way where it is not only
a site to locate auto accident attorneys and doctors, but a site to
educate auto accident victims and the accident process.
Auto accident victims can now go to the I Got Hit web site and locate
all the state laws on various topics (seat belts, helmets, speed limits,
etc.). It also provides information on recalls and defects, drunk driving,
airbag safety and a host of other topics.
To help with educating auto accident victims, we have created a full-color
pamphlet that can be kept in the glove compartment of any vehicle detailing
the information that should be collected at the accident scene. Not
only does it suggest what information to collect, it provides space
to collect it. Our goal is to get these pamphlets distributed to as
many people as possible.
Currently we are working with participating police departments to distribute
the brochures as well as organizations and traffic commissions. Some
of the companies distributing these brochures are the Washington
State Traffic Commission and the Strategic Traffic
Accident Reduction Organization in Michigan.
We need your help to distribute these brochures. If your work for a
police department or your company would like to help distribute these
brochures, please send us an email so we can discuss the best possible
way - igh@igothit.com.

Why this web
site will benefit the ARC Network
We are promoting the
I Got Hit web site in conjunction with the ARC Network for the simple
reason of networking. I Got Hit will be distributing a ton of direct marketing
material to auto accident attorneys across the United States. Through
this direct marketing it is our hopes we can also educate these attorneys
about the resource of accident reconstruction experts located on the ARC
Network web site.
It is our
goal to complete the entire circle of the accident chain.
- There is an auto
accident. The victims can use I Got Hit to gather important information
and work through recovery process and the investigating police can use
ARC Network for investigating the accident (vehicle stats, crush stiffness,
and research topics).
- The accident victim
can now use I Got Hit to locate a doctor to evaluate injuries and an
attorney to help with settlement.
- Accident goes to
an attorney. The attorney can then use the resources of the ARC Network
to review the case and retain a qualified expert witness.
- The expert witness
retained through the ARC Network can complete the reconstruction with
the help of the tools located in the members section of the ARC Network
and help the attorney and client to settle the case or proceed with
litigation (depositions and trial).
- Case is closed.
As the ARC Network
and I Got Hit develop, we continually find new resources and would like
to share those with our users.
Recently, we met with
a company that provides funding for accident victims. After speaking with
this company I soon realized the value this company provides.
Many times the accident
victim has a good case, but simply runs out of money due to medical bills,
inability to work, or other reasons. The insurance companies pick up on
this and try to settle the case for a settlement far below its merits.
At this point, American Legal Funding steps in and helps the auto accident
victim with bills and payments until the proper settlement can be reached.
Here are a couple of examples:
Personal
Injury: Plaintiff lost ability to earn a living...
--- Insurance company offered a $125,000 settlement
--- Facing housing and financial pressure, Plaintiff felt compelled
to accept the offer
--- A $5000 advance for personal expenses allowed negotiations to continue...
RESULT: $300,000 settlement!
Personal Injury: Plaintiff needed several costly medical treatments
for an eye injury...
--- Insurance company offered a $112,000 settlement
--- Lacking medical insurance, Plaintiff could not afford further treatments
and felt felt compelled to accept the offer
--- A $7500 advance for additional treatments, the disability became
evident...
RESULT: $200,000 settlement!
I thought this was
interesting because this company, in a round-about way could actually
help accident reconstructionists. If the accident victim is funded and
is able to pay his/her bills to keep the settlement process active, this
may allow the attorney the time to retain an expert to assist with the
settlement process, if merited by the case....
