INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the
February 2003 edition of the Accident Reconstruction Newsletter.
This edition comes a couple days late due to all the winter flu's
going around. The ARC Network was hit extra hard this year as much
of the staff were ill at the same time. However, everyone is now
feeling better and back to work.
Last month we
estimated that the new crush stiffness database would be completed,
however, we received some excellent feedback for an additional option
to be added and we felt strongly about trying to integrate it. Are
plans are to integrate the "Sisters and Clones" database
to the crush stiffness database. What this will mean is when you
search for a car, the database will also check the "Sisters
and Clones" database for other possible matches. Since NHTSA
only crashes a limited number of cars, we believe this will save
a lot of time and also provide results which you may not have found!
We do not yet have an ETA on this project.
This past month
we were able to complete the contract for the hotel accommodations
for the 2003 ARC CSI Crash Conference. The conference will be held
at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. It will
be a four day conference beginning Monday June 9 and ending Thursday
June 12. All information about this conference can be found on the
web site: ARC CSI Crash
Conference 2003.
The ARC Network
and CAD Zone will also be seen on a prop for the upcoming CBS show,
"The Guardian". We created an accident scene diagram for
the actor who portrays an accident reconstructionist. It aires Tuesday
February 25 on CBS. You can read how this came about and what we
did in the article in this newsletter.
We did launch
the new member's control panel this past month and all seems well.
With this new control panel, members of the ARC Network can update
their expert listing directly online as well as change their contact
information and update their password.
As stated in
the last newsletter, the ARC Network has been communicating the
new membership opportunity for Police Departments. This new
membership type is really taking off, the past three weeks we have
assigned free trials to over 50 police departments! If your department
would like a free trial, just fill out our simple
request form and you will be set up.
The ARC Network
is able to operate based on membership dues and advertising. Please
help support The ARC Network by becoming a member. As a member
you have full access to the Member's Only section that hosts a vehicle
specs database, crush stiffness database, crash test clips, technical
papers and more. As a member you will also be placed in the Expert
Directory. The ARC Network web site receives over
850,000 hits each month and currently has over 300 members.
If you haven't joined the ARC yet, please visit our membership
section.
Thank you again
for supporting the ARC Network. Please use the navigation menu to
the left for the rest of the newsletter....
