It has been a great year operating the ARC Network. As 1999 comes to a close and we get ready to embark on the year 2000, the ARC Network is working hard to make sure everything is Y2K compliant and that we will not experience any down time as a result. We would like to take this time to look back and take a perspective of how the ARC Network has grown.

The ARC Network officially started promoting the organization in March 1999. That is also the time we started tracking how many people are visiting the site. In March 1999, we recorded 3285 unique users to the site, which accounted for 31,384 hits. Not bad for the first month. Let's now jump ahead to the end of November 1999. In just 9 months the unique users rose from 3285 to 10,000! That is an increase of over 300%. The hits to the site have rocketed from 31,384 to 135,338! That is an increase of over 430%. We are very pleased that the industry of accident reconstruction has viewed this site in such a favorable manner.

Another area of the ARC Network that has grown is the Expert Directory. In March 1999 Donald Dupray became the first paying member of our organization. We would like to thank him for having faith in the organization and for his support. We are currently at 65 members and growing. We have members from all over the United States as well as Canada and Europe. We have also received great feedback from some of our members relaying that they have already been retained for new cases as a direct result of the ARC Network. Visit the Expert Directory at www.accidentreconstruction.com/members/members.asp

In the past 9 months the ARC Network has participated in 2 crash tests. Both of these tests can be found at www.accidentreconstruction.com/research/crashtests.asp. One of the crash tests was staged for a television special on the Discovery Channel. Many of you watched that special "Pile Up: Inside a Car Crash". We worked closely with Charles Plemons to make that happen. The other crash test was at the Lawyers and Judges conference in Scottsdale, Arizona. We had the opportunity to exhibit at that seminar and meet a lot of people as well as a few of our members. We also had the opportunity to meet with Steve Weintraub of Lawyers and Judges Publishing Company and discuss the potential for a synergistic relationship. Lawyers and Judges Publishing Company is a great organization and their next conference is in February 2000. This year we have made great progress towards promoting accident reconstruction events. We now have many relationships with organizations, including SAE, which allow us to announce their events. We have also received great feedback from our email announcements that are sent periodically to let you know of events coming your way. We have many plans to continue to enhance this area and look forward to developing new relationships in coming years. The events section is located at: www.accidentreconstruction.com/events/index.asp

Another area that has grown considerably is the ARC Network research section. We started with just a few topics and now you can research many different areas like airbags and restraints, linear momentum, drunk driving, guardrails, government organizations and manufactures as well as links to hundreds of magazines, libraries and dictionaries all of which are free and online. This is another area that we are focusing on greatly expanding next year. The research section is located at: www.accidentreconstruction.com/research/index.asp

In 1999 the ARC Network had the privilege of meeting and working with two excellent organizations, FARO and CAARS. The ARC Network has put together a web site for each of these organizations and helps communicate news and events to its members. Both of the organizations are very professional and the ARC Network wishes them great success in the coming years. The ARC Network is also looking forward to meeting and working with new organization in the future. For more information on CAARS, FARO or how to become a participating organization please visit www.accidentreconstruction.com/members/orgs/index.asp

One of the most visited areas of the web site is the ARC Network Discussion Group. This area that enables you to post questions, reply to questions, or simply read what others have to say. We have had many great discussions and so many of you have helped answer questions and really given a lot of insight. Each month the Discussion Group grows and we see new people joining in and participating. We feel it is a great way to communicate and get involved with your peers in the industry. The Discussion Group can be found at www.accidentreconstruction.com/discussion/year2/

Above are just a few of the great accomplishments that have been achieved in our first year. We are working hard to make the year 2000 even better. We would like to thank all of you for making the ARC Network the most visited site for Accident Reconstruction communication and research.

We wish all of you a very happy and safe holiday!
