Teen killed in rollover accident early Sunday morning

MOLALLA, Ore. - The Clackamas County Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Team is investigating a single-vehicle rollover accident which resulted in the death of a 16 year-old Molalla girl on Sunday just after 1:00 a.m.

Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies and Molalla Fire personnel were dispatched to a single-vehicle, rollover crash on S. Mt. Hope Rd. approximately 1 mile west of Hwy 213 at 1:07 a.m., after one of the passengers in the vehicle called 911 using a cellular phone.

The vehicle, a 1991 Toyota 4-Runner was rolled over on its top in a field off the roadway. Preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling westbound on S. Mt. Hope Rd. when the driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled over several times.

A passenger in a rear seat of the vehicle, Tierney Gross, 16, of Molalla, was ejected from the vehicle at the time of the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Dannelle Marie Giese, 18, of Molalla was taken by LifeFlight to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital for treatment.

Anabel Maldano, 17, of Molalla, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to Oregon Health Sciences University Hospital for treatment.

Kathryn Elizabeth Leep, 18, of Molalla, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported by ambulance to Silverton Hospital for treatment.

It appears that all the occupants of the vehicle were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and no arrests have been made nor citations issued at this time.
