Charges considered in fatal accident
FLORIDA -- Charges may be pending in the Friday morning crash
on Route 2 that claimed the lives of a Hubbardston couple.
David C. Estabrook, Jr., 41, and his wife, Joan F. Estabrook, 53, were both
pronounced dead following the crash.
As of Sunday afternoon no charges had yet been filed against
Timothy D. Lowell, 32, of Eden Mills, Vt., whose car police said crossed
the center line and struck the Estabrooks' 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle
that was westbound on Route 2, a quarter-mile west of the Eastern Summit
store.
According to a preliminary investigation by Trooper David
Hathaway of the Cheshire barracks, the Estabrooks were thrown from the motorcycle
at the time of the crash. Both were wearing helmets.
David Estabrook was airlifted to Berkshire Medical Center
in Pittsfield, where he was pronounced dead. Joan Estabrook was transported
to North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Lowell was treated at NARH for minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation with the assistance of the
State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
