Oswego man dies in Orchard Rd. collision
An accident that claimed the life of an Oswego man Monday
morning on Orchard Road in Oswego is being investigated by the Illinois
State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
A preliminary investigation of the accident by Oswego Police
indicates it occurred at 6 a.m. when Derek T. Florian, 31, of the 400 block
of Grapevine Trail, Oswego, attempted to turn his vehicle from Tuscany Trail
onto Orchard Road and pulled into the path of a southbound vehicle being
driven by Patrick M. Hopkins, 37, of the 0-99 block of Compton Court, Algonquin.
Police said Florian was transported to Rush Copley Medical
Center in Aurora by Oswego Fire Department Paramedics/ Firefighters where
he was later pronounced dead.
Police said Hopkins was treated and released at the scene.
No citations had been issued as of press time, according to
police.
Assisting Oswego Police and Paramedic/ Firefighters at the
scene were personnel from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department
and State Police.
Florian was employed as the golf course supervisor at Fox
Valley Golf Club in Aurora.
