TOKYO, Sep 30, 2004 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- Yamaha Motor
Co. said Thursday it is recalling 5,715 small motorcycles of seven
models for free repairs due to a brake problem.
In a report to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure
and Transport, Yamaha said motorbikes such as Mate V50 and Mate
T90, produced between June and September, could have their brake
strength reduced if a friction material comes off due to adhesive
failure.
Meanwhile, DaimlerChrysler Japan Co. and Sumitomo
(S.H.I.) Construction Machinery Manufacturing Co. also filed recall
reports separately.
DaimlerChrysler Japan said it is recalling 459 Mercedes-Benz
"Viano" passenger cars imported to Japan between last
November and April, as their rear axles could break.
Sumitomo (S.H.I.) said tires of 116 vehicles for asphalt
pavement, manufactured between last November and August, could fall
off.
