TOKYO, Nov 4 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor
Corp. (7203.T: Quote, Profile, Research) issued a recall notice on Thursday
covering 651,366 vehicles spanning 10 models in Japan due to defective lenses
in rear lamps whose red colour could fade when exposed to strong sunlight
for a long time.
Subject to the recall are certain Toyota Hiace Wagon, Hiace
Van and other sister models including around 6,000 ambulances manufactured
between November 1989 and April 2000, Japan's top auto maker said in a report
submitted to the transport ministry.
No accident has been reported due to the defect, it said.
The world's second-largest auto maker does not usually disclose
recall costs, but a spokeswoman said the company was expecting no impact
on its earnings.
Last week, Toyota issued two recall notices for 339,637
trucks and vans in Japan manufactured between 1988 and 1996 due to a glitch
in the steering system.
