DaimlerChrysler Recalls 98,000 Mercedes Benz Vehicles in Japan Over Electronic Stability Program

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- DaimlerChrysler AG is recalling 98,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Japan over problems with an electronic stability program, the company said Tuesday.

The recall concerns certain E-, S-, CL-, CLK- and A-class vehicles, the company said.

It follows customer complaints about Mercedes vehicles showing low levels of brake fluid, and affects vehicles equipped with a particular Bosch hydraulic system 53 electronic stability program. There is no recall of Mercedes vehicles outside of Japan, the company said.

The action comes after Mercedes-Benz in May announced it was going to have to recall some 680,000 E- and SL-class vehicles worldwide to examine potential problems with a brake control system.
