NOTTINGHAM — A man driving a milk tanker was killed Monday when his truck collided with a pickup truck on Route 156 just before noon.
Nottingham police hadn't identified the deceased driver of the tanker as of Monday night.
The tractor-trailer truck, which was carrying milk, was traveling south on Route 156 when it crossed the centerline and struck a Chevrolet pickup truck, according to information posted at WMUR.com. The tanker truck rolled over and crashed into a utility pole.
The site reported that the tanker truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no word on the condition of the pickup truck driver.
The Union Leader reported the pickup's two occupants, a male and female, were taken to Exeter Hospital for treatment. The driver was treated and released, while his passenger, a woman, was taken to a Boston hospital for "unknown internal injuries," according to that report.
Nottingham police wouldn't comment about the accident on Monday evening and referred all questions about the accident to Chief Gunnar Foss. A call placed to Foss' home on Monday evening was not returned.
Route 156 was shut down from Halls Way to Route 152 for most of the day after the crash and power was also turned off in the area as crews worked to repair the utility pole.
Crews from Public Service of New Hampshire were still on scene as of 6:30 p.m. Monday night, working to fix the utility pole. Officials on scene said that because the trailer and downed wires were in the road for most of the day, no accident reconstruction was done.
Accident reconstruction is expected to take place this morning.
