Ford's Volvo says recalling 40,000 cars

STOCKHOLM, July 26 (Reuters) - Sweden's Volvo Car Corp., owned by Ford Motor Co. (F.N: Quote, Profile, Research), is recalling more than 40,000 XC90 cars in the United States due to a potential problem with the battery.

It said it was recalling 42,211 2005-model Volvo XC90s sold in the United States to make sure they had not been serviced in a way which created the risk of a short-circuit of the car battery, Volvo Car spokeswoman Maria Bohlin said.
