Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota recall vehicles
DETROIT (Reuters) - Volkswagen AG (XETRA:VOWG.DE -
News) is recalling 39,583 Jetta sedans in the United States because of a
possible fuel leak that could trigger a fire, U.S. safety regulators said
on Thursday.
"A fuel supply line clamp located in the engine
compartment may not be positioned properly and could cause a fuel leak,"
the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on its Web site.
The vehicles involved in the recall are from the 2005 model
year, NHTSA said.
Separately, NHTSA said Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - News) is recalling
10,061 Expedition and Navigator sport utility vehicles from the 2006 model
year because tires on the driver's side may be damaged, which could lead
to a tread separation and crash.
The damage was caused by a sharp part on the manufacturer's
assembly line, NHTSA said.
Also, Toyota Motor Co. (Tokyo:7203.T - News) is recalling
11,592 2005-model year Tacoma pickup trucks in the United States due to
defective seat belt buckle sensors, NHTSA said.
