Volvo recalls 105,000 cars with steering defect
STOCKHOLM, Feb
10 (Reuters) - Swedish car maker Volvo, one of Ford's (NYSE:F -
News) most profitable brands, said on Tuesday it was recalling more
than 105,000 cars with a steering defect sold in 78 countries.
Volvo press
officer Peter Ganjbar said the recall affected Volvo S60, S80 and
V70 models built between March 31 and October 12 last year.
No accidents
involving these cars had been reported, Ganjbar said.
The defect concerned
"the ball-joint nuts in the front-control arms," he said.
"This may
cause the steering wheel to go out of alignment."
Of the 105,381
Volvo cars being recalled 29,786 were in the United States, 17,081
in Sweden and 9,715 in Britain, Ganjbar said.
