Mazda recalls 106,000 Tribute SUVs
DETROIT, April
15 (Reuters) - Mazda Motor Corp. (Tokyo:7261.T - News) is recalling
106,000 of its compact Tribute sport utility vehicles to fix an
engine stalling problem, U.S. federal safety regulators said on
Thursday.
An advisory
on the Web site of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
said vehicles affected by the recall are from the 2001 through 2002
model years, along with certain 2003 Tributes.
All are equipped
with 3.0 liter V-6 engines and can stall during deceleration, posing
the threat of a crash, NHTSA said.
Mazda is an
affiliate of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - News) ,and the engine stalling
problem prompted the recall earlier this week of 363,440 Ford Escape
SUVs, the sister vehicle of the Tribute.
