Sergeant Jeff Jones has been a police officer in the combined jurisdictions of Manheim Township, Lancaster Township and East Petersburg Borough, Lancaster County, PA since 1985 having graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy ranked 2nd in his class. Jeff investigated countless collisions in the 20+ years he has been in law enforcement. Jeff has been a collision reconstructionist since 1991 having reconstructed 90+ fatal and serious collisions and over 2000 other collisions. Jeff has earned convictions in all homicide by vehicle cases he has prosecuted. He earned an "expert witness" ruling in accident reconstruction in numerous criminal and civil courts of law including the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Jeff has the training, experience and dedication to fact finding in all collisions which result in a final expert analysis of crash causation. Jeff has teamed with a well known forensic pathologist and assisted him in his civil work as a biomechanic and kinematic expert. Sgt. Jones has also teamed with well known commercial vehicle crash experts in their crash studies and civil investigations. In 2010 Jeff was selected by the Lancaster County District Attorney to command the newly formed Lancaster County Major Crash Investigation Team. Jeff commands 70 police investigators who specialize in forensic collsion investigation. Jeff is responsible for the training and coordination of the team as well as the overall supervision of the teams response and investigation of all fatal and serious injury collsions. In 2009 Jeff was recruited by Penn State University to teach accident investigation and hazardous materials emergency response to the PA Deputy Sheriff's Training Academy held on the PSU main campus. Jeff has taught Deputy Sheriff's from across Pennsylvania how to investigate a collision. Prior to the formation of the Lancaster County Major Crash Investigation Team, police departments across Lancaster County have called on Sgt. Jones for assistance in investigating their fatal crashes. Jeff is able to bring a common sense analysis along with the technical analysis into the courtroom where it matters most. He is able to explain technical formulas and in depth investigations in a way that juries will understand. Jeff's real life experience responding to and investigating thousands of vehiclular crashes has given him the unique experience, training and knowledge of todays dynamic crash. Jeff is no stranger to advanced work in civil cases having testified in civil crash cases and giving depositions in many settings. Jeff Jones is a member of NAPARS and has earned his certifications as an accident reconstructionist with the Traffic Institute for Police Services, Institute for Law Enforcement Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Earning certificates in Accident Reconstruction, Commercial Vehicle Reconstruction,Vehicle Lamp Forensics, Tire Forensics,Kinematics, Human Factors,Nighttime Visibility,Pennsylvania Vehicle Inspection Enforcement, Pennsylvania Weighmaster, and Pennsylvania Traffic and Engineering Studies.
